Our client:
A highly successful and growing real estate development organization based in Downtown Toronto. The company has built a strong reputation for delivering large-scale residential projects across the GTA and offers a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with significant exposure to senior leadership and complex development projects.
This is a fully on-site position (5 days per week) located in Downtown Toronto.
Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
• Prepare and maintain monthly project financial reporting, including job cost reporting, budget tracking, variance analysis, and project performance reporting.
• Monitor project budgets, actual costs, and forecasted expenditures while identifying financial risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate monthly construction draws and funding requests with lenders, cost consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Prepare funding schedules, capital call packages, and supporting financial documentation.
• Review construction invoices, progress draws, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Perform bank reconciliations, HST reconciliations, and other monthly accounting activities.
• Support project teams with financial analysis, cost tracking, and ad hoc reporting requests.
• Assist with year-end financial reporting, audit support, tax schedules, and external reporting requirements.
• Review project closing documentation, statements of adjustments, and closing reconciliations.
• Partner closely with development, construction, finance, and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting efficiencies.
• Support various special projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications and pre-requisites:
• CPA designation required.
• Experience within project accounting, development accounting, real estate finance, construction accounting, or a related environment.
• Strong understanding of project costing, budgeting, forecasting, construction funding, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Professional, accountable, and highly organized approach to work.
