Identity Engineer Location: Toronto, ON Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — every Tuesday & 1 Friday per month Contract Details • Position Type: Contract • Contract Duration: 6 months (extension possible; conversion to FTE possible) • Start: June 15, 2026 • Pay Rate: C$80.00–C$95.00 / Hour (CAD) • Shift / Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 37.5 hours per week • Travel Requirements: Not required Job Summary The Identity Engineer will serve as a hands-on engineering specialist within the Identity Directory & Tools team, with a primary focus on scripting, automation, and platform customization within Active Directory environments. This role is centered around enhancing and maintaining Quest Active Roles Server (ARS), a critical tool used to manage directory objects and workflows across the enterprise. The successful candidate will leverage advanced PowerShell scripting to develop, modify, and optimize business logic and operational rules within ARS. Working closely with internal teams, this individual will support improvements to directory management processes by implementing scalable and efficient solutions. This is a highly technical, execution-focused role requiring strong problem-solving capabilities, the ability to understand complex directory environments, and the initiative to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and drive enhancements from concept through implementation. Key Responsibilities • ARS (Active Roles Server) customization and rule development • PowerShell-based automation for directory object management • Enhancing business logic and workflows in Active Directory • Supporting helpdesk tooling for AD object management • Updating and maintaining rules and policies within ARS Required Skills • 10 years progressive experience (ideal) with strong hands-on experience in: - Advanced PowerShell scripting (critical) - Experience customizing tools or platforms (preferably ARS) - Strong understanding of Active Directory object management - Experience working with workflows, rules, and automation logic • Solid Active Directory understanding • Experience supporting domain controllers, DNS, and GPO concepts • Ability to review complex configurations • Experience working in enterprise-scale environments • Experience working with vendors and internal teams Soft Skills: • Initiative: speaks up, identifies issues, proposes alternatives • Independence: able to drive an initiative from analysis → design → deployment • Communication excellence: able to articulate technical options and influence decisions up to Sr. Director level • Proactive mindset: not someone who waits for tasks • Collaboration: works effectively with Microsoft, vendors, and internal SMEs • Leadership presence in technical discussions Preferred Skills • Experience with Active Roles Server (ARS) • Previous banking or enterprise regulated environment experience • Experience supporting hybrid environments • Experience working with large-scale directory environments • Experience in background infrastructure support and management, including SQL knowledge Work Environment / Physical Requirements • Hybrid schedule: on-site every Tuesday and 1 Friday per month • There could be some situations where the contractor is required to work after hours, including weekends; no formal on-call requirement Important Notes • Interview Process: - Round 1 (Remote, 30 minutes) — Light technical screening, team fit, communication, initiative - Round 2 (In Person, Tuesday at CIBC Square) — Deep technical panel with SME engineers, scenario-based Entra ID problem solving About the Client Leading North American financial institution offering reliable banking products and personalized financial solutions.
